Annie Harrison Designs   Sacred Watersculpture
THE SNAKE AND THE COSMIC EGG

Since prehistoric times, the snake has been a powerful
symbol of the Great Goddess.  With the periodic shedding of
its skin, this creature reflects the Divine's sacred and
mysterious power of regeneration and renewal. Also, because
of its sinuous meandering, the snake is strongly associated
with the water element -- its movement closely mimics the
natural patterns of rivers and streams.  Water in all its forms --
oceans, rivers, streams, lakes, wells and fountains -- has
always been associated with the Goddess.  Not only is it
essential to all living systems, it is in water that life seems to
begin.

The egg is a universal symbol of life, representing not only
life's potential, but the hidden origin and mystery of being.  It
is associated with the womb, resurrection and hope.  In many
cultures, the Cosmic Egg is seen as playing the central role in
the origin of the universe.

A web of Divine  energy permeates the cosmos, continually
creating, sustaining and transforming all life.  Goddess
worshipping traditions view this Supreme creative energy as
feminine.   It  is this sacred primordial energy of Creation that
is celebrated in this sculpture.
