Annie Harrison Designs   Sacred Watersculpture
SOLSTICE

This watersculpture came into being at the time of the solstice. For
thousands of years, our ancestors experienced the solstices and
equinoxes as sacred events. At the summer solstice, the longest day
of the year, we experience the full glory of the sun's power. Our
ancestors celebrated this day as the "triumph" of the light.

The winter solstice, the darkest and longest night of the year, was
celebrated as the beginning of the "return" of the sun. This event
heralded the coming of spring, and expressed a sacred reality of life:
that even in the darkest of all nights, the light is being birthed. The
Solstice watersculpture embodies this promise: that within the
darkest, most difficult parts of our personal journeys, there is a light
that will not fail us. This light brings healing and balance, birthing a
self that is in truer alignment with our souls. The mandala in the
center of the sculpture speaks of our individual journey to wholeness.
