Annie Harrison Designs   Sacred Watersculpture
EQUINOX

Equinox means "equal night". It describes the two times during the year when the lengths of
our day and night are equal. Our ancestors experienced the spring and autumn equinoxes as
sacred events and as powerful opportunities to align themselves with the greater forces of the
universe. The equinox was seen as the demonstration of the harmonious balance of
seemingly opposite forces --the night with the day, the dark with the light.

The sacred geometry of this watersculpture depicts the balance of polarities within the whole.
The black half-circle represents the dual nature of earthly existence--our experience that
everything in our universe has its opposite, in both our outer and inner worlds. In our
personal journey to wholeness, we are called upon to harmonize and reconcile opposite
energies within ourselves. Too rigid of an identification with any particular polarity can often
undermine health and well-being and can serve to limit rather than free us. With the half circle
appears the square, which is associated with the earth, the material plane, groundedness,
and stability.  Within the square rests the perfect circle, the universal symbol of wholeness,
the Divine, the Source of All That Is.

Beneath the square hangs a delicate blue agate triangle. A symbol of the Sacred Feminine,
this shape is associated with rebirth, renewal and transformation. It represents the natural
world, grace, lunar energies, and the creative womb of the universe. Agate is believed to
have a stabilizing effect on one's energy field, bringing balance and harmony to the body,
mind and emotions.
