While all the sculptures in the series honor the elements, each one
celebrates particular energies. GAYATRI highlights the fire element.
From within the illuminated inner chamber of the sculpture, water gently
flows through the triangular opening, dancing with light as it cascades
over the smooth stone.
On the physical plane, it is the sun's firey energy that is the sustaining
power of life on the planet. The light of our brilliant "day star" dispels all
darkness, enabling us to see clearly the world around us. In the same
way, on the inner dimension, it is the power of the Divine that sheds light
upon our consciousness, bringing clarity, understanding and wisdom.
GAYATRI is an ancient Sanskrit name, and is associated with the Divine
power of illumination. It is this power of illumination that is represented in
the inner chamber of the sculpture.
Dynamic, creative, energetic and vital, this force dispels all darkness,
confusion and ignorance, and sheds light upon our journey to
wholeness and freedom. Sometimes bold and brilliant, sometimes gentle
like the dawn, GAYATRI is the name of that mysterious inner power that
awakens us from our deep sleep of unconsciousness and illuminates the
Self.
